'Papa John' Schnatter wears blue during Kentucky-Louisville rivalry game

For years, pizza chain founder John Schnatter was one of the most visible boosters of the University of Louisville athletic department.

His Papa John's franchise — from which he resigned last year as CEO over the use of a racial slur — is headquartered in a Louisville suburb and was the title sponsor of the Louisville Cardinals football stadium.

But after the school severed its ties with Schnatter last year over the incident, he re-emerged at Saturday's basketball game between No. 4 Louisville and No. 19 Kentucky -- wearing blue and sitting behind the Wildcats bench.

The sighting lit up social media with fans on both sides of the Bluegrass State rivalry.

The possible change in allegiances ended up working out for Schnatter as the Wildcats defeated the Cardinals 78-70 in overtime.
